Ce long-métrage est l'adaptation du story-arc The Supergirl From Krypton, signé Jeph Loeb et Michael Turner, et publié de mai à octobre 2004 dans Superman/Batman #8 à 13 (traduit aux Éditions Semic et Panini sous le titre La Supergirl de Krypton).
